Here’s our best advice for how to act when…
You’re on a first date
Outdated beliefs on dating etiquette has lead to many men and women thinking they need to behave a certain way on dates. But let’s face it, in this day and age splitting the bill makes much more sense. Saying “Let’s go halves!” or “I’ll pay for the next date” are your best options here.
You’re invited to your partner’s friend’s wedding
You’ve agreed to come with your partner to the wedding of a friend you’ve never met before, do you have to buy them a present? The answer is YES. If you’re planning on eating their food, you should chip in for the wedding present.
You’re using your friend’s Netflix account
After a long day at work/school/uni, logging into your friend’s Netflix account to watch your favourite series is just what you need. They’re already paying for it, so why should you? The sharing economy is great, but it’s common courtesy to give something back. You could for example take them out for coffee, or ask them to download VibePay to request a bit of money from you each month.
You’re going to an event you didn’t want to go to
Your friend reeeeeeeally wants you to come to a concert you honestly couldn’t care less about. Should they treat you or do you pay for your own ticket? Your best option is probably to pay for your own ticket – unless your favourite artist is playing anytime soon in which case you can swap concert experiences!
